Join us for a global creative challenge on reimagining human rights.
The future of human rights must be hopeful.
Today, human rights communication mainly relies on dry, edifying, dark, depressing or aggressive tones – both in words and imagery – that does not connect on a human level by provoking empathy or empowerment. To make the case for human rights, we need to offer the hope of a brighter future. When we only show the abuses, people start to believe that we live in a world of crisis with no alternative.
To this end, we are building the largest collection of free, evergreen, hopeful visual content around human rights, for activists and nonprofits around the world to use in their campaigns.
Do you have existing works that fit the theme, whose central message is one of hope, togetherness, shared humanity, empowerment or resilience? Submit them today, and help change the world!
Reimagining Human Rights is an open call for illustrations by Fine Acts, in partnership with hope-based comms.
We believe that the image of human rights needs to be reimagined so we can bring more people on board – and here we mean the actual images we use as activists when we talk about the issues we care about. We want to show people what a different vision of human rights looks like: as a way of living our lives together, a way to build a better future, and as the glue that binds us in our shared humanity.
Our challenge offers a simple solution to a very real problem in the nonprofit world: visual content is of great importance for campaign visibility and engaging support, but often organisations don’t have the necessary capacity or resources to create it.
This is where you come in. Art can help us imagine new narratives and illustrate the future we strive for.
Submit your works today! The call is for original, but previously created works. If you want to design and submit a new work this is great, but not required.
If your works are selected, we will upload them under a Creative Commons license on TheGreats.co – Fine Acts’ new platform for free socially engaged visuals, making available for free noncommercial use to activists and orgs worldwide.
All selected illustrators in the open call will receive a unique printable merch pack, on top of world wide distribution and promotion, and our ocean-deep gratitude.
Before submitting, please read our short but vital FAQ.
Thank you for being great!
The open call is now closed. Thank you to everyone who submitted their works.
